Fire VFX

I created a fire VFX in Houdini using particle simulation to drive the shape then turn that into a volume and thereafter change it to a pyro simulation. I used VDB as main source for the pyro, but also added shaders for extra effect and light sources.

Another consideration I was thinking about was to convert the volume to a particle simulation and export it into Unreal as Niagara and use a fire flipbook as the rendered result but in the end went for the pyro simulation. The thought process was going on which method to use as Niagara Emitters was also a very popular choice which I tried first. As Unreal had many options I decides to go for the VDB approach in the end creating the whole simulation in Houdini and then use Unreal for the rendering of them.
